Hand washing facilities will b provided to the job site. <br /> Eating drinking and other activities involving hand to mouth contact,such as smoking and other <br /> tobacco uses, are prohibited within the work area. Food shall be stored and eating shall be <br /> allowed only in designated areas that are protected from the soil disturbing activities. Workers <br /> shall removed and properly dispose of coveralls and properly wash prior to leaving to work area <br /> for meals or end of shift. <br /> 3.0 PHYSICAL HAZARDS Formatted:Bullets and Numbering <br /> Additional physical hazards related to excavation and removal of site soils may be experienced <br /> during site field activities. The following sub-sections provide a description of additional <br /> hazards that may be encountered during field activities. <br /> 3.1 Heavy Equipment <br /> Soil excavation and removal activities will involve the use of heavy equipment for excavation, <br /> and loading,and large trucks for transporting soil. Scrapers and dump trucks will be used to <br /> transport material on site. Excavation equipment may include graders,front-end loaders and/or <br /> an excavator loading directly into end-dump trucks. The following items should be worn during <br /> site activities to meet OSHA-instituted Level D PPE standards: <br /> • Disposable Coveralls <br /> • <br /> Gloves(as needed) <br /> • Steel toe safety boots <br /> • Safety glasses <br /> • Hard hat <br /> Additional physical hazards that may be encountered during heavy equipment and truck <br /> operations include loud noise and vehicular traffic. <br /> 3.2 Heat Stress <br /> Heat stress may become an issue during excavation and removal activities on the site. Heat <br /> stress can occur within as little as 15 minutes,and can pose as great a danger to worker health as <br /> chemical exposure. In its early stages,heat stress can cause rashes,cramps,discomfort and <br />
