• 500 SERIE#TALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
3. Mounting Shear Valve Cabling & Bracket
It is strongly recommended that this step be done before dispensers are placed on the island.
Locate shear valve cabling brackets, shear valves and shear valve mounting plates. The shear
valve cabling brackets should be mounted between the shear valve and the shear valve mounting
plates. Locate the appropriate length shear valve actuator cable (connected to the 500S Shear
Valve Actuator) and insert the cable loop end into the shear valve cabling bracket (shown
below). The bracket will position the loop at the end of the cabling just below the actuator arm.
Locate the bag containing both the split ring pliers and split rings (one per shear valve). Use the
split ring pliers to insert the split ring onto the loop at the end of the actuator cable. Next, insert
the split ring into the hole located on the OPW shear valve actuator arm. After the ring is
mounted, reset the OPW shear valve to the position shown below.
Reset Procedure
The cabling is fully extended when the OPW shear valve actuator arm is located as shown
below. When a fuel leak causes the 500S Shear Valve Actuator to pull the shear valve cabling
and trip the shear valve, it must be reset. To reset, pull on any shear valve cable approximately
%z" in the direction shown below. This will reset all shear valve cables and allow all shear valves
trip arms to be reset. If any shear valve trip arm is not able to be reset, attempt to pull out the
cable in question. If it cannot be reset, contact Customer Service at 1-800-739-4435.
Split Ring —►
Connector Reset cable after tripping
shear valve by pulling
any of the cables approx.
u 1l2" indirection shownwn-
-
this will allow all shear
® valves to be reset.
Shear Valve
Cable Bracket
Shear Valve
Actuator
Cabling
Page 7
