• 500 SERIASTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
4. Connect and Mount Sensors
A. Connecting Sensor Plugs Connect all plugs as shown below to ensure
connections are made properly. Sensors can be connected to any of the female plugs on
either the Y or W harness.
Female Plug J
Male Plug 0 a
0
m 0
To connect plugs, line up the 2 screws
on the side of the plug - then push nate
plug into female plug until it stops
B. Mount Impact Sensor The Impact Sensor should be rigidly mounted to the
dispenser frame (use two '`/<x 20 bolts)at an appropriate location above grade. The
sensor must be mounted in a vertical position in order to work properly.
After mounting the impact sensor, it must be reset. Remove the reset screw located in the
top of the Impact Sensor—do not misplace it as it will need to be replaced. Locate the
green reset tool included in the bag. Insert the tip into the reset hole andeg ntly push
down—the float inside the sensor will unlatch. Pull out the reset tool and replace the
reset screw.
C. 510 Discriminating Sensor Locate the Model 510 Discriminating Sensor. The
cap of the Model 510 Sensor must be placed onto the base—press it on so it will not
come off. The Model 510 Sensor can be mounted using the SMB-500 sensor mounting
bracket with the 2"pipe clamp. The bracket is designed to allow the sensor to be
mounted to the U-Channel bracket at various heights. If using the fire extinguisher, the
510 Sensor should be mounted so that the fire extinguisher valve is above the top of the
510 Sensor. This will prevent the fire extinguisher valve from becoming submerged in a
high-water condition.
D. Other Sump Sensors If using the Model 516 Discriminating Sensor in
conjunction with the 510 Discriminating Sensor, or if using the Model 406 Liquid Sensor
alone, use the SMB-500 sensor mounting bracket with the 1"pipe clamp to properly
position the sensor in the base of the sump. The bracket can be used to mount either one
or two sensors at various heights.
Page 8
