•
BEAUDREAU
BEAUDREAU ELECTRONICS INC.
B. Submersible Pump (single phase only-for three phase pumps, contact Beaudreau
Customer Service at 1-800-739-4435):
(i) The first and most important ctC.p is to be sure that you have shut the_power off
to the proper puma. The best way to do this is as follows:
(a) Authorize a dispenser for the product that you want to shut off.
(b) With your foot or hand check the pump for vibration indicating that the
pump is running.
(c) Go into the station and turn off the circuit breaker for that product's
submersible pump.
(d) Recheck the pump with your foot or hand to be sure the pump has
stopped.
(e) Turn the dispenser that you had authorized off and replace the nozzle.
(f) WARNING: Failure to follow this procedure could lead to serious injury
or death.
(ii) Remove the plug from the electric box on the top of the pump and store the plug
near the pump in case you ever have to remove the controller for maintenance.
(iii) Determine what fittings you will need to position the controller. A sample for
Red Jacket and Tokheim pumps is shown on Figure#3. Assemble the fittings onto the
controller and tighten.
(iv) Connect the 7 wires as shown on Figure#4.
(v) Disconnect the union and carefully position the connected wires into the
electrical box. Thread th? reducing bushing into the threaded opening, being careful not
to scrape or twist the wires. Reconnect and tighten the union.
(vi) The sensor installation is the same as for the dispenser. This is done by
inserting the reset tool through the hole in the top of the sensor and gently
pushing the float down until it unlatches. WARNING: Be sure to plug the sensor into
the controller plug before turning the power back on; this will keep you from
accidentally ruining the controller and voiding the warranty.
(vii) Turn the circuit breaker back on and test for proper operation by authorizing a
dispenser of that product and feeling the top of the pump for vibration.
(viii) To test the cutoff, insert the sensor into a cup of water. The pump should
shut down when the sensor is placed into at least 3/8" of water. To return power to the
pump, remove the sensor from the water and reset the sensor. This is done by inserting
the reset tool through the hole in the top of the sensor and gently pushing the float
down until it unlatches. Reposition the sensor in the sump.
NOTE: If controller relay cycles or oscillates when sensor is tripped, it is likely that the
controller is switching its own power. Check the appropriate wiring diagram to confirm
that controller is wired properly. Make sure that the orange/black, red and black wires
are tied to power from the breaker and the orange wire feeds the dispenser. If problems
continue, please contact Beaudreau Customer Service at 1-800-739-4435
BEAUDREAU • WATERFORD, CT 06385-9715 -860-443-6570
