Mr. Ed Bonds
August 26, 1996
Page 2
The subgrade and the paved surface for the southern pond area will slope at a minimum fall of 2
per cent to the northeast. The surface of the finished paving should be to match the surface of the
AC at the southeast comer of the existing wash rack area. The specified structural section of 14-
inches shall be maintained, and the excavation shall be varied to accommodate these criteria.
The composite liner material shall be Gundsea140 SMTN, a composite of 12-mil HDPE and a layer
of bentonite, or equivalent. The California distributor for Gundle Lining Systems, Inc. is Walt
Steinbeck in Corona, California. His telephone number is (909) 674-1342. Gundle's main offices
are in Houston, Texas at (800) 435-2008. Contact Ms. Claudia Blackman.
Prospective bidders are instructed to use the attached revised bid schedule form. This form has
been modified to include one additional option item, namely a cost for spreading of excavated soil
on site after laboratory analyses are completed, should this be possible. Please note that if the
successful bidder has completed work on both pond areas and has de-mobilized from the project
site, no re-mobilization will occur, and soil spreading will be handled by others. Therefore, in the
soil spreading item, no mobilization and de-mobilization costs are to be included.
As requested by Nick Nickerson at the meeting, please review and distribute this information and
the attached revised bid schedule to the prospective bidders. Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
SIERRA-PACIFIC GROUNDWATER CONSULTANTS, INC.
Eric D. Chase, CEG
Senior Engineering Geologist
EDC/jb
Enclosures
C. W.T. Nickerson, Unocal
J.S. Rapp, Sierra-Pacific
