A list of attendees at the meeting is attached hereto. The prospective bidders shown on the attendees list will serve as a distribution list for the following information. Additionally, please distribute this letter and enclosures to the other parties listed on the attached list, as requested by Nick Nickerson. Nick Nickerson stated that during construction, full level D personal protective equipment will be required, including steel-toed boots/shoes, safety glasses with side shields, high visibility vests, and hard hats. The only exception would be an equipment operator working in an enclosed cab,where the hard hat would not be required. He also stated that a mid-September start date was desired, but this is dependent upon the abandonment of a monitoring well within the southern former pond area. With regard to excavation and paving requirements for the former evaporation pond areas, the subgrade and the paved surfaces for the northern pond area will slope at a minimum fall of 2 percent from the northwest comer of the pond to the southeast comer of the pond. The asphaltic concrete (AC) should be blended to match the existing grade at the edges. The excavation of soil should be of a depth to ensure that the specified 14-inch structural section (including composite liner, shading sand, aggregate base, and paving) is maintained throughout. Thus, the depth of the excavation will be increased or decreased as needed to maintain the 2 per cent fall criterion and the structural section, while joining the existing surfaces at the edges. The join to the existing asphalt concrete along the east side of this pond will not be saw-cut, but will be cleaned of soil by excavating to the bottom of the AC prior to butting the new AC against it.
