Information to Bidders <br /> Soil Excavation,Liner/Cap Construction <br /> Puregro/Brea Facility <br /> Section 1. Page 2 <br /> no such utility lines or other improvements are believed to exist in the work area. The Contractor <br /> shall be responsible for procurement of all materials specified herein, except those materials <br /> specified herein to be provided by others. <br /> The Contractor shall establish designated and well delineated work zones for all work to be <br /> performed, including excavation and paving areas, equipment and materials storage areas, and <br /> maintenance areas. The Contractor shall coordinate all work to be performed with the occupant <br /> of the site, in order to minimize interference with on-going business operations. <br /> Part 2. Bid Items <br /> Bid Item 1. <br /> Bid Item 1. shall consist of mobilization of all necessary personnel, equipment, and materials <br /> necessary to complete the work described below to the jobsite located at 1905 North Broadway <br /> Avenue, Stockton, California, and the removal of all personnel, equipment, and materials not <br /> intended and agreed upon by all parties to the contract for this work to remain on site at the <br /> completion of the work. <br /> Bid Item 2. <br /> Bid Item No. 2 shall consist of the excavation and staging on site of existing soils as follows: <br /> Approximately 14 inches of aggregate material, drain rock, medium-grained sand, and clayey <br /> sand is to be removed from two former evaporation pond areas, as shown on Figure 1 included <br /> herewith. The former north pond comprises a rectangular area approximately 72 feet by 100 feet <br /> (7,200 square feet), and the former south pond comprises a rectangular area approximately 41 feet <br /> by 75 feet (3,075 square feet). The estimated volume of material to be excavated is 444 cubic <br /> yards for both ponds. <br /> Areas requiring soil removal should be excavated to a minimum depth of 14 inches, or as directed <br /> by Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. based on conditions encountered during <br /> excavation. For bidding purposes the 14-inch depth of excavation shall be used. Excavated <br /> materials shall be stockpiled in designated areas for characterization purposes. Excavated <br /> materials shall be placed on polyethylene sheeting (Visqueen® or equivalent) having a minimum <br /> thickness of twelve (12) mils, and shall be securely covered at the end of the work day each day <br /> with polyethylene sheeting having a minimum thickness of six (6) mils. <br /> Surfaces exposed by excavation activities shall be scarified a minimum of eight (8) inches deep <br /> and compacted to ninety (90) per cent of the maximum dry density.
