Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc.
_ HIDROGEOLOGISTS&GEOLOGISTS
4
`'4
June 3, 1996
Mr. W.T. Nickerson, Project Manager
Unocal ERS
2000 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 400
San Ramon, California 94583
Subject. Work Plan for the Installation of Monitoring Well MW-9 Near Chronicle Avenue, Former
PureGro/Brea Facility at 1905 North Broadway Avenue, Stockton, PureGro Site No.
771165, Unocal Order/Contract: 34402-1, Sierra-Pacific Project No. 94-055
Dear Mr. Nickerson:
A work plan to install monitoring well MW-9 is enclosed. MW-9 would be installed in the street
at 1700 Chronicle Avenue, approximately 300 feet west of MW-5. Well-probe ground-water
samples would be taken prior to installation of the terminal monitoring well. The plan would be
to drill an 8-inch soil boring to the saturated zone (within the street) at 1700 Chronicle Avenue.
A probe sample would be taken and submitted for 1,2-DCP laboratory analysis. If the sample
results are determined to be negative, a standard monitoring well would be installed in the still-
open soil boring. If 1,2-DCP is detected within the first well-probe water sample, the drill rig
would be repositioned further west. Subsequent well-probe samples would be taken until the 1,2-
DCP zero-line has been determined. A monitoring well would ultimately be installed within a
neighborhood street beyond the 1,2-DCP zero-line.
Please call if you have any questions or further directives.
Sincerely,
SIERRA-PACIFIC GROUNDWATER CONSULTANTS, INC.
1
J Stephen app, CEG-1133
S for Engineering Geologist
JSR/jb
Enclosures
C.
