Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc.
1 HYDROGEOLOGISTS&GEOLOGISTS
i
April 29, 1996 s
Ms. Wendy Wyels, Agricultural Regulatory Unit 3
Central Valley - Regional Water Quality Control Board y
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, California 95827-3098
Subject: First-Quarter 1996 Quarterly Monitoring Report, Former PureGro/Brea Facility, 1905
North Broadway Avenue, Stockton, PureGro Site No. 771165, Unocal Order/Contract No.
34402, Sierra-pacific project No. 94-055.03
Dear Ms. Wyels:
The First-Quarter 1996 Quarterly Monitoring Report for the PureGroBrea Broadway site is
enclosed for your consideration.
Nine monitoring wells located at,or near, the former PureGroBrea Broadway agricultural-chemical
(ag-chem) facility were sampled and measured on March 20-21, 1996. A new well (MW-7) was
added to the array. Analytical results from this monitoring event are largely consistent with
previous results. The water table rose about 10 feet from December 1995 to March 1996, and has
risen 30 feet since monitoring began in 1993. Ground water continues to flow southwest, away
from the Stockton Diverting Canal.
Laboratory test results indicate that 1,2-DCP and nitrate concentrations have migrated southwest
from the subject site more than 300 feet. 1,2-DCP concentrations appear to originate from the
north pond and tank farm areas. Nitrate concentrations were detected in each of the water samples
tested, and appear to be broadly distributed within the uppermost saturated zone.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
SIERRA-PACIFIC GROUNDWATER CONSULTANTS, INC.
J n to en p, C G-1133
S io Engineering Geologist
JSR/cf
c: W.T.
