Both MW-7 and MW-8 will be off-site, downgradient wells, while MW-10
will be placed onsite in an upgradient location. After reviewing the workplan, I have
two comments:
1• The screen length for the shallow wells MW-8 and MW-10 is proposed to be
from 50 to 70 feet bgs. The quarterly monitoring undertaken to date shows
that groundwater elevation have fluctuated from 49 to 75 feet bgs. In order
to prevent these wells from going dry, it appears that the screen should extend
from 50 to 80 feet.
2• In order to prevent cross-contamination of the aquifers, please make sure that
the conductor casing of the deep well (MW-9) extends into a substantial clay
layer.
With the above comments, the workplan are approved. Please let me know when
you have scheduled the installations.
If you have any comments, I can be reached at (916) 255-3104.
lAt&l 114
WENDY WYELS
Ag Regulatory Unit
cc: Mr. Nick Nickerson, Unocal, San Ramon
Mr. Mike Infurna, San Joaquin County Health, Stockton
