MWeedy Wyele - CVRWQCB
P=eGro/a Groundwater Investigation
May1992
Page -2-
e -2-
The first sentence in Section 3 .2 of the work plan should
read:
"Groundwater monitor wells are proposed to be
installed, pending the review of historical data, at
the locations shown on Figure 2 (Appendix A) " .
The final locations recommended for the wells will be
presented to the Regional Board for approval.
Section 3.2: Location of Monitor Wells
Condor has proposed, and PureGro agrees to, the installation
of three monitor wells for the next phase of the groundwater
investigation. The purpose of the initial three wells is to
assess the groundwater characteristics at the site and to
further assess the extent of groundwater contamination
identified previously by Kleinfelder (Phase II Soil and
Ground Water Assessment Report, August 8, 1991) in the area
near the oil/water separator and dry wells .
Data collected during the initial phase of the groundwater
investigation will be reviewed, analyzed and will provide
the information necessary to plan and execute the next
phase. Several investigative techniques , including
hydropunch, piezometer wells, or monitor wells, may be
recommended for the next phase of the investigation. Any
impact from the former pond and/or from the former location
of the above ground fumigant tanks can be assessed at that
time.
Section 3. 3: Drilling and Soil Samples
PureGro and Condor will decide if the extra soil samples
collected from each borehole will be analyzed. The decision
will be based upon the laboratory results of the initial two
soil samples and the groundwater sample collected from each
well and upon whether additional analyses would aid in
assessing the groundwater characteristics at the site.
Section 3 .4: Monitor well Construction
The amount of seasonal groundwater fluctuation will be
assessed during the historical records review. The data
collected during the review will determine the depth at
which one soil sample will be collected (above the maximum
high groundwater level) , and the total screen length of the
well casing. The information will be reported to the
Regional Board prior to installation of the monitor wells .
Section 3.6: Groundwater Sampling
Each groundwater sample will be transferred to the
appropriate number of containers (four 40-m1 glass VOAs and
one 1-liter amber bottle) fitted with Teflon-lined septums,
labeled and placed in a cooler chilled with Blue Ice for
delivery to the laboratory within 24 hours of collection.
CONDOR
