1
' GeosyntecO
consultants
chlorinated herbicides (former North Pond only), and nitrate as N analyses. The
brass tube ends will be covered with a teflon sheet and capped.
2. The second brass tube will be used to collect three En Core® samples for VOCs
and three En Core samples for low level 1,2,3-TCP analyses.
3. The remaining brass tube will be used to log the soil type and to screen for
VOCs using a PID, or, if a duplicate soil sample is required, the third brass tube
will be used to collect the duplicate sample for analyses listed for the first brass
' tube.
4. If a duplicate En Core sample for VOC and low level 1,2,3-TCP analyses is
required, the sample would be collected from the top 6-inch brass tube of the
' next 18-inch split-spoon sample interval.
If elevated PID readings are detected within 3 ft (along the boring) of a proposed sample
listed in Table 1, the following protocol will be used for collecting a soil sample from
that interval:
• If PID screening of the proposed sample location does not indicate elevated
VOCs, the proposed sample will be moved to the location of the elevated PID
reading, or
• If PID screening of the proposed sample location also indicates elevated VOCs,
a sample will be collected deeper of the two locations.
Collected samples will be placed in a cooler with ice and kept below 4 degrees Celsius.
Samples will be shipped under standard chain-of-custody procedures to Calscience
Laboratory (Calscience) of Garden Grove, California.
' 3.2.3 Groundwater Sampling
Once the groundwater table has been reached, a steel rod will be advanced 5 feet into
the saturated zone through the center of the hollow stem auger. The rod will then be
retracted, exposing a 5-foot long disposable screen. A disposable bailer will lowered
through the rod to collect a groundwater sample.
Groundwater samples will be placed in a cooler with ice. Samples will be shipped
under standard chain-of-custody procedures to Calscience.
Work Plan—Stockton Pond Inv_01-07-08 9 01.07.08
