' Aquifer Testing Work Plan •
Former P=Gro Facility
'
Stockton,
North Broadway Avenue -
Stocktoq California
Sierra-Pacific Project No. 94.055.05
' tracking as needed. The three new wells will be installed in two steps. First, a soil boring will be
advanced, sampled and logged at each location. After analysis of the data obtained from the soil borings,
' well designs will be finalized as described below, and the wells will be constructed.
' Field preparations at the site will include a pre-construction meeting with Sierra-Pacific personnel and
1 the drilling contractor. Drilling permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department. Underground Services Alert(USA)will be notified so that local utilities can locate
' underground pipelines, cables, wires, etc.,that may be present near the proposed drill locations within
10 days of the expected drill date. Planning and project management will result in completion of the
' monitoring well installations in strict compliance with RWQCB and San Joaquin County regulations.
' The first soil boring will be drilled in the southeast corner of the Giglio property(location E-1 on Figure
7)to 100 feet below ground surface(bgs). A California C-57 licensed drilling contractor will be utilized
' for the drilling work. Contract workers will have current 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste training
certificates. Additional soil borings will be advanced to a depth of 100 feet bgs at locations OW-1 and
' OW-2 as shown on Figure 7. Continuous core samples will be recovered from each of the three drill
holes. Sierra-Pacific will log the soil cores, direct soil sampling, and observe decontamination protocols.
' Each soil boring will be logged and soils described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification
System (USCS). After logging by Sierra-Pacific's California registered geologist, cores will be
' photographed, labeled, and placed in corrugated core boxes. Core boxes will be staged at Sierra-
Pacific's warehouse in El Dorado Hills, California. Three representative soil samples from each soil
' boring will be sent to a certified laboratory for materials testing, including mechanical sieve analyses
and tests for porosity and permeability. Materials testing results will be used for corroboration of aquifer
' testing results and for future groundwater modeling.
' The borings will be drilled using a truck-mounted hollow-stem auger drill rig. The borings will be 8-
inches in diameter. The core sampler will be rinsed between samples and either steam cleaned or
washed with all other drilling equipment between samples and borings to minimize the potential for
cross-contamination.
' SIERRA-PACIFIC GROUP 6
