Box 67
Banta, CA 95304
RE: Frank's Exxon #2 IN REPLY REFER TO SITE CODE: 1464
1399 E. Yosemite Ave.
We have reviewed the July 25, 1989 "PRELIMINARY HYDROGEOLOGIC
ASSESSMENT REPORT" prepared by Delta Environmental Consultants,
Inc. , for this site. Two additional monitoring wells were
installed during this phase of investigation. The report
summarizes information from a past investigation, and includes
analytical results for one complete round of sampling. Based on
the low levels of contaminants detected, the consultant has
proposed quarterly sampling of the ground water monitoring wells
for a period of one year.
The proposal to conduct quarterly ground water monitoring may be
acceptable. However, we request that an additional round of
samples be obtained and analyzed to verify the initial results
prior to implementing the quarterly monitoring program. We also
request that after purging the wells, the samples be taken with a
bailer, rather than by pumping, to assure that the samples are not
being affected by the polyethylene tubing used in the pump.
As an addendum to the "PROBLEM ASSESSMENT REPORT" include your work
plan for the replacement of MW#1 and submit to us by May 10, 1990.
If you have any questions, contact Mr. Greg Lyon, EHS, of my staff
at (209) 468-3450.
Jogi Khanna, M.D. , M.P.H.
Health Officer
on ali oti, QHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
RV/GL:nr
cc: CRWQCB - Gordon Boggs/Tom Peltier
3443 Routier Rd. , Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
cc: Triad Groundwater Assoc.-Darrell Nations
P.O.
