Exxon#2
1399 E.Yosemite,Manteca,California I H P R 0 8 1993
ENVIR0N[ANTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Regarding the "sheen" of floating liquid hydrocarbons {FLH) in well MW-1 B, there are
several schools of thought as to whether or not a sheen of FLH should be bailed off and
sampled because of concerns such data would be misrepresentative. If you request that
the well be sampled, then we shall do so in the future, when it is possible to remove all
evidence of a "sheen" by bailing and then purging and sampling. The second quarterly
monitoring event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 7, 1993, and the well will be bailed
and sampled per your instructions.
Regarding a free product removal plan, we believe the vapor extraction system currently
waiting for approval will eliminate any free product in MIN-1 B. If free product is present
in the well during the next quarterly sampling, we will include a free product removal plan
with the quarterly monitoring report. I
Regarding notice of the vapor extraction test, I was not laware of the lack of notification.
In the future, I will instruct our remediation group to notify your department of any and all
site activities to take place at the subject site.
Aegis appreciates the interest of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services and
trusts this response meets your needs. If you have any questions, please call us at (916)
7$2-2110.
Sincerely,
AEGIS ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
r
Owen M. Kittredge o►
Staff Geologist +I
La ra J.
