This report briefly reviews the site history, field methodology and presents the analytical
laboratory results. Health and safety guidelines were observed in conducting all field
activities in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan (Appendix III).
2.1 Purpose
The purpose of the investigation was to determine potential subsurface
contamination by petroleum hydrocarbons due to two (2)clarifiers on the property
which were formerly associated with a car wash and an airplane wash.
2.2 Methodology
Seven (7) soil borings were drilled on November 30, 1994 to a depth of 15 feet
bgs. The soil borings were advanced using a van-mounted Geoprobe coring
machine. Soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals starting at the 5-foot
depth and field-screened for volatile organics using a Photovac Microtip 1000
Photo Ionization Detector (PID) calibrated to 100 parts per million (ppm)
isobutylene. PID readings were recorded on the boring logs. Soil samples from
the 5-foot and 15-foot depths were analyzed for Total Recoverable Petroleum
Hydrocarbons (TRPH), for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)as gasoline and
diesel, for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and for Semi-Volatile Organic
Compounds (SVOCs).
Two (2) additional soil borings were drilled to 5 feet bgs on January 31, 1995
using a hand auger. Soil samples were obtained at the 5-foot depth with a hand
held drive sampler.
3.0 GENERAL SITE INFORMATION
3.1 Site Location
The ASB property is located at the intersection of C.E. Dixon Street with
Lockheed Court and Boeing Street in Stockton, California. The subject property
is located within the boundaries of the Stockton Metropolitan Airport (Figure 1,
Appendix 1).
The subject property consists of a one-story building with an attached hangar and
a detached car wash. The building was constructed in 1981 to 1982 and is
currently used for records storage.
There are two (2) three-stage clarifiers on the property. The clarifier on the
northwest side of the property was related to a former airplane wash. The
clarifier on the southeast side was related to a former car wash (see Figure 2,
Appendix I). The clarifiers are no longer being used and were observed to be
empty when inspected during the Phase II investigation.
CRC Environmental Risk Management,Inc.
