DER
Bright Bright ttnpk.RigMIDiutirr.
The well will be finished with a locking pressure cap when not in use to limit the
introduction of foreign matter into the well.
1.4. TEMPORARY WELL DEVELOPMENT
Following installation of the well screen and casing, the test well will be developed to
remove fine silt from the well bore and to effectively increase the hydraulic radius of the
well. Air lifting and surging along the screened interval of the well will be performed to
settle the sand filter pack and draw fine grained material out of the well. The well
development purge water will be discharged to the land surface in such a manner as
not to allow the discharge to enter back into the well or any surface water body.
1.5. PUMPING TEST
The temporary test well will be pumped at a constant rate for up to 24 hours following
the completion of the installation. The water levels will be recorded in the surrounding
piezometers and pumping well during the test. The discharge water generated during
the test will be directed out into the farmer's field and not allowed to flow back into the
well.
1.6. PIEZOMETER AND WELL ABANDONMENT
In accordance with San Joaquin Well Standards for the appropriate abandonment of
water wells, the piezometers and temporary well casing will be destroyed by pressure
grouting each in place. An approved grout mixture will be installed into the well via
tremmie pipe, filling the well screen and casing from the bottom up. After the well
casing has been filled, a cap will be installed onto the well top and pressure will be
applied until it stabilizes to the agreement of the SJEHD inspector. The top 3 feet of
the PVC well casing will be excavated and cut off below grade, and additional grout will
be introduced to the well casing and allowed to flow over the top of the casing and into
the excavation creating a mushroom cap of cement.
87057IST09L024 Page 5 of 7 February 5, 2009
Copyright 2009 Kleinfelder
