KLE/NFELDER
Bn9Nt hople.PI9ht5alNiwa
sand filter pack (#3), 1-foot thick bentonite transition seal above the filter pack, and
grouted to the surface with a cement based grout material. The wells will be finished
with a locking pressure cap situated within a monument style (above ground) well vault.
The bottom of each well will be constructed with a threaded PVC bullnose cap. If a
threaded cap is not available, a slip cap secured with stainless steel screws will be
used.
1.3. TEMPORAQRY PUMPING TEST WELL INSTALLATION
Kleinfelder will install one (1) temporary groundwater pumping test well at the site. The
installation of the temporary well will also be completed under the direct supervision of a
California State licensed Engineer or Geologist.
The soil boring will be drilled with a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with at least a 12-inch
hollow stem auger. We propose to advance the borings to a total depth of approximately
85 feet. During advancement of the soil boring, soil samples will be collected at 5-foot
intervals for lithologic classification and possible laboratory analysis. Lithologic
classification will be based on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). A staff
engineer or geologist will log the soil borings.
We will process select soil samples from the boring (e.g., 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 feet).
The soil samples will be analyzed for grain size (sieve, coarse and fine minus #200
wash).
Following completion of drilling the soil borings, a clean, 8-inch diameter PVC
piezometer will be installed in each boring. The wells will be constructed with schedule
80 PVC, a 75-foot long 0.040 to 0.050 inch screened section surrounded by and
covered by a sand/gravel filter pack, and 5-foot-thick bentonite transition seal above the
filter pack. The remaining 5 feet of the upper annular space will not be grouted to the
surface because the test well is temporary; thus in an effort to reduce the occurrence of
cement in the farmers field, we will attempt to abandon the test well as soon as the
pumping test is completed.
87057/ST09L024 Page 4 of 7 February 5, 2009
Copyright 2009 Kleinfelder
