OF STOCKTON
OOWACITY
4
DEPARTMENT OF MUNICIPAL UTILITIES
2500 NAVY OR VE
STOCK70N, CA 952D5-1 191
(209)937-3750
FAX(209]927-8708
January 18, 2001
Mr. John Dakopolus
Dameron Hospital
525 W. Acacia Street
Stockton, CA 95203
DISCHARGE OF WASTEWATER INTO THE CITY OF STOCKTON STORM DRAIN
SYSTEM
On January 2, 2001, the City of Stockton issued a Notice of Violation for the
unauthorized discharge of wastewater from Dameron Hospital into the storm drain
system. In that letter, you were directed to do the following:
• Provide a plan and schedule detailing the actions that will be taken to resolve
this issue
• Determine the source or sources of the wastewater discharge and cease the
discharge immediately
• Provide an estimate of the length of time the discharge has occurred and the
total amount (quantity) of the discharge
Your response dated January 12, 2001 was not adequate in that it addressed none of
the issues noted above. Your letter does state that the wastewater would be redirected
from the City's storm drain system to a grease trap but does not identify the source of
the wastewater discharge or list the actions taken to assure that the source you have
identified is the sole source of the wastewater discharge.
As stated in my letter dated January 2"d, the City will continue to maintain the seal in the
storm drain line to minimize impacts until this issue is resolved. If you fail to respond to
this letter by providing the above information, Dameron Hospital will be subject to
enforcement action. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Bob
rdoch, Stormwater Program Manager at (209) 937-8734.
MORRIS L.
