All
fieldwork was conducted in accordance with the Apex Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
included in Appendix B. Complete soil and groundwater analytical laboratory reports and chain-
of-custody forms are included as Appendix C.
GEOPROBEO INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
Soil core sampling was conducted using 5-foot sections of decontaminated 1/4 inch inside
diameter(ID) galvanized steel probe pipe. The probe pipe was connected to a 1-foot long;3/<
inch ID galvanized steel soil core tube. Stainless steel decontamination insert rods were placed.
through the probe pipe and sampling core. The probe pipe, soil core, and insert rods were
together pneumatically driven to the depth the soil core was desired. The insert rods were
removed and the probe pipe and core tube were driven one foot to obtain the soil core sample.
The probe pipe containing the soil core sample was removed from the hole and the soil sample
was disconnected from the probe pipe. The ends of the core were sealed using Teflon tape and
plastic end caps.
After soil sampling was completed, tygon tubing with a Waterra brand check valve was inserted
through the probe pipes to collect a groundwater sample. A groundwater sample was collected
from each of the borings. The fresh formation water entering the borings was sampled directly
from the open boring. Upon completion of groundwater sampling activities, the boreholes were
grouted to the surface with bentonite and cement. A representative of the County was on-site for
the grout inspection. Soil boring logs are included as Appendix D.
