Public Health Services ' t
Ref: Site Code 1359
Dear Mrs. Cotulla;
I have reviewed your letter of December 17 addressed to Lodi
Ready Mix , concerning the SAR prepared by my office, and feel
that a response is necessary to clarify the issues raised. I
will address the items in the order listed in the letter.
1. Based upon information available to this office, the depth to
ground water as measured by the San Joaquin Flood Control
District is approximately 53 feet. Based upon that data, the
leaching potential analysis worksheet included in the SAR is
correct; (53 ' - 25' = 28' , ) the score would be 5, not zero, and
the total score would be 43, as shown on the worksheet.
2 It is understood that the environmental fate worksheet is not
designed to be used for single samples, but was included to
indicate the relative degree of contamination present if it is
assumed that the soil above the sample depth is clean.
3. The depth to groundwater was obtained from a recent map
issued by the County Flood Control District, which shows it to be
at approximately 53' . Would you please furnish my office with
the data indicating groundwater has been as high as 40 feet in
this area, including dates, or provide us with the source of such
information so that we may review the data and add it to our
files.
I would also appreciate it if you would furnish us a map showing
the locations of current or past groundwater investigations in
the area, including monitoring wells, so that we can research
that material for passible inclusion in future workplans and
reports.
When we have received the data, and discussed the findings with
our client,, we will advise your office of our suggested approach
to resolution of this matter.
Your r ,
1
Will J.
