1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1. This Workplan has been prepared on behalf of The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway <br /> Company(BNSF). This Workplan describes the activities for the monitoring of ground water <br /> duality at the BNSF Stockton Intermodal Facility as required in the Waste Discharge <br /> Requirements(WDRs)issued under Order No. 5-00-133 by the California Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board-Central Valley Region(RWQCB). <br /> 2. The site of the facility is located adjacent to and south of the BNSF main rail track between <br /> Austin Road on the west and Jack Tone Road on the east in San Joaquin County,California. <br /> The location of the site is shown in Figure I. <br /> 3. The Ground Water Monitoring Program described herein, is intended to satisfy the <br /> requirements of Section E.3. of the Monitoring and Reporting Program that is part of the <br /> WDRs. <br /> 4. The proposed scope of work includes installation of one ground water monitoring well to be <br /> located near the property boundary upgradient and three ground water monitoring wells to be <br /> located downgradient from the Oil Water Separator(OWS)and evaporation pond. The <br /> proposed monitoring program will provide information for: <br /> • Evaluation of the quality of ground water flowing onto the property. <br /> • Determination of compliance with the RWQCB's Water Quality <br /> Protection standards and state action levels. <br /> Monitoring the ground water for any impacts by the DWS and <br /> evaporation pond. <br /> 5. The upgradient ground water monitoring well discussed herein will be installed and sampled <br /> for the first year as described in the Workplan for Evaluation of Background Ground Water <br /> Quality(TRC,2000)and the Addendum letter dated August 4,2000 (TRC, 2000a). <br /> I <br /> 6_ The remainder of the Workplan is organized as follows: <br /> • Section 2.0- Project Background <br /> • Section 3.0- Proposed Scope of Work <br /> • Section 4.0- Proposed Schedule <br /> • Section 5.0-References <br /> So'd qn:A Tn, c upr <br />
