3.0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
3.1 APPROACH
1. To monitor the quality of the ground water at the site, one upgradient ground water monitoring
well (MW-1) and three downgradient monitoring wells (MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4) will be
installed and monitored. MW-I will be located near the southwest property boundary (see
Figure 2 for approximate Iocation of the well). It is anticipated that MW-1 will provide data to
evaluate the ground water quality on the upgradient side of the OWS and evaporation pond.
MW-2 will be located downgradient from the OWS_ MW-3 and MW-4 will be located
downgradient from the evaporation pond-
2. MW-1 is proposed at a location that is:
Upgradient from the site and is located on BNSF property.
• Located far enough upgradient so that it is expected to be outside of the
zone of influence of any leak from the evaporation pond_
3. MW-2 is proposed at a location that is-
• Downgradient of the OWS.
• Placed approximately 100 feet from the center of the OWS to represent
the full zone of potential influence-
Located in an area that will be relatively accessible and not impact the
operations of the facility.
4. MW-3 is proposed at a location that is:
! Downgradient of the evaporation pond.
! Placed approximately 100 feet from the center of the evaporation pond to
represent the full zone.of potential influence.
• Located in an area that will be relatively accessible and not impact the
operations of the facility.
5. MW-4 is proposed at a location that is:
• Downgradient of the evaporation pond.
• Located further downgradient than MW-3,to serve as an evaluation point
should a release be detected at MW-3.
Located in an area that will be relatively accessible and not impact the
operation of the facility.
TRC
lut ons
90'd S0:8 10, q upr
