Workplan for Phase II Subsurface Investigation
3190 Auto Center Circle
Stockton,California 95212
Partner Project Number 81147
March 10,2009
Page ( 2
Proposed Field Activities
To address the recognized environmental condition identified by the Phase I,Partner will conduct a Phase
11 Subsurface Investigation. The scope of the investigation will include six soil borings(PES-131 through
PES-B6).
Utility Clearance
Partner will notify Underground Services Alert North (USA) to clear public utility lines as required by
law at least 48 hours prior to drilling activities.
Health and Safety Plan
Partner will review a site-specific Health and Safety Plan with all on-site personnel involved in the project
prior to the commencement of drilling activities.
Drilling Equipment
Partner will subcontract with EnProb Environmental Probing (EnProb) (State of California C57 Water
Well Drilling Contractor License Number 7770077)to provide and operate drilling equipment. Under the
direction of Partner, Enprobe will advance borings PES-131 through PES-135 with a direct-push, truck-
mounted Geoprobe drill rig and boring PES-135 will be advanced with a direct-push, limited-access
Geoprobe drill rig. All drilling rods and/or sampling equipment will be decontaminated between samples
and/or boreholes to prevent cross-contamination.
Boring Locations
Borings PES-B 1 and PES-132 will be advanced in the vicinity of the clarifier. Borings PES-133 and PES-
B4 will be advanced in the automotive repair bays, at least one of which will be in the vicinity of the
drain. Boring PES-135 will be advanced adjacent to the south of the property building in the vicinity of a
potential subsurface vault and boring PES-136 will be advanced in the vicinity of the hazardous materials
storage area. Please see Figure 3 for a map indicating proposed boring locations.
Sampling Depths
Borings PES-B1 through PES-136 will be advanced to a terminal depth of 15 feet below ground surface
(bgs). Soil samples will be collected continuously from each boring until the terminal depth. A minimum
of 24 soil samples will be prepared for laboratory analysis. Groundwater is not expected to be
encountered during this investigation.
Soil Sampling Methodology
Soil samples will be collected using a 4-foot long by 2-inch diameter MacroCore sampler with a 4-foot
long acetate liner, which will be advanced by the direct-push drill rig using 4-foot long (3-foot long for
limited-access rig) by 1.5-inch diameter drill rods. The sampler will be driven into the subsurface to
allow undisturbed soil to enter the open MacroCore barrel and retrieved in 4-foot intervals to recover the
soil-filled liners.
