Page 5
March 11, 2014
Project Numbers 2014-03-005
4. SOIL SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Drilling Details
Drilling Method
The boring(s) will be advanced with a hydropunch rig (typically truck mounted). The soil cuttings
brought to the surface will be examined and placed in 5 gallon buckets. Disposal will be based on the
analytical results of the cuttings. The soil samples will be collected into clean disposable tubes, sealed
with Teflon, and capped. However,up to 8 soil samples are anticipated to be retained for analysis.
If groundwater is encountered,a grab water sample will be collected. The water samples will be placed in
laboratory approved containers, placed on ice and transported to the laboratory.
Boring Abandonment
All borings will be sealed and abandoned in accordance with EHD requirements.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control(QA/QC) Procedures
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures will be used to minimize the potential for
contamination of soil samples. The QA/QC procedures may include the use of single-use sampling
equipment, decontamination of drilling and sampling equipment by washing with a solution of potable
water and Liqui-Nox solution or equivalent between borings, changing latex protective gloves after each
sample, and recording sample information on chain-of-custody forms.
Sample Laboratory Tests
Groundwater samples will be transported to a California state certified analytical laboratory where the
following Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)tests will be performed:total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPH-g) by 801513, total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d), VOCs by 8260, and
metals by EPA 6010/7000(arsenic,barium, cadmium,chromium,lead,mercury, selenium,and silver).
5. PROPOSED TIME SCHEDULE FOR WORK
Assuming approval of this workplan, we propose to perform the work as soon as scheduling allows.
Standard laboratory turn-around is ten business days. We will forward the results of the work to the
Client within one week of receipt of the laboratory results.
©ENVIRO ASSESS ENVIRONMENTAL•ENGINEERING•GEOLOGY
PO BOX 1154,BONNERS FERRY,ID 83805 PHONE(877)629-6838 FAX(877)623-5493
