Florsheim Homes July S, 1994
Mr. Robert Florsheim 04 Page 2 of 4
ENVIROMETRIX
The findings of this report are current as of the date of this report. However, changes
in the conditions at the property can occur with the passage of time, whether they are
due to natural processes or the works of man on this or adjacent properties. Therefore,
the actual conditions discovered may change over time.
This report was prepared for the sole use of Florsheim Homes, the only intended
beneficiary of our work, No other party shall rely on the information contained herein
without the prior written consent of EMC.
Scope of Work
The scope of work for this project was described in our proposal and cost estimate
which was authorized by Florsheim on June 29, 1994 and included the following:
• Obtain necessary permits;
• Drill three borings near the former UST location;
• Collect soil samples for laboratory analysis;
• Field screen the samples for organic vapors;
• Analyze selected samples for TPH as diesel, gasoline, and motor oil and BTEX;
• Prepare this report and provide recommendations for further investigations, if any.
Subsurface Investigation Program
On July 5, 1994, EMC drilled four soil borings at the site and collected soil samples
and a grab groundwater sample for chemical analysis. Based on conditions observed at
the site, the fourth boring was drilled near the two aboveground storage tanks onsite.
Plate 3 presents the site plan and boring locations. Prior to performing the work, a
workplan dated June 30, 1994 was submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division (SJCEHD) for their review and approval.
Drilling equipment and services were provided by Frontier Drilling of Modesto,
California. Soil borings were advanced using a Semco drill rig with 6-inch diameter
hollow stem augers. Soil samples were collected in all of the borings continuously
from just above the groundwater table (approximately 5 feet) to the bottom of the
boring, except for Boring B-1 which was advanced beyond the final sampling location
to help ensure that the boring would fill with enough groundwater to collect a grab
groundwater sample.
Soils encountered during drilling were described using the Unified Soil Classification
System. A record of drilling and sampling procedures and field observations were
recorded in a field drilling log. The field logs were completed to record details of soil
drilling and sampling activities. The field logs contain the following information:
