1
LEVI N E•FRICKE
ground-water samples collected from WS-1, 2, and 3, located along
the northwest property border (adjacent to the Tsutsui property) .
1 12.4 Irrigation Supply and Drainage water
Chlorinated pesticides and herbicides were not detected in the
two water samples collected from the irrigation supply and
drainage points, I-1 and E-1.
12.5 Power Transmission Line Easement
Chlorinated herbicides were not detected in the composited sample
l of eight individual samples collected beneath the power transmis-
sion lines, located along the southern Site border.
12 .6 Methane
Methane was detected through field screening using a portable OVA
in borings WS-1 (13 ppm) and WS-2 (1.6 ppm) , located in near the
northwest Site boundary. Methane was not detected in borings
WS-3 through WS-7, located in the vicinity of the Quonset Hut
(Figure 5) .
1 Methand results detected in the field portion of the• Site ranged
from not detected to 18.35 ppm.
13.0 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS FROM SAMPLING
AND ANALYSIS PROGRAM
The following findings were obtained through the soil and
ground-water sampling and analysis program conducted as part of
the environmental assessment of the Ripkin property.
13.1 Pesticides
The insecticides DDT and related compounds and Dieldrin were
detected in shallow soils (approximately one foot below grade) in
both the field and northeast (Quonset hut) area of the Site. DDT
I and related compounds were detected in relatively low concen-
trations (below the cumulative TTLC of 1 ppm) in composited
samples collected from field sections F, .G, and H. DDT and
related compounds were also detected in mostly low concentrations
in shallow soils near the western side of the Quonset hut, in the
northeastern area of the Site. A soil sample collected at
approximately one-foot below grade at one location, Q--1, was
reported to contain DDT-related compounds at a total concen-
tration of 2 .73 ppm, which exceeds the 1 ppm TTLC established by
the State Department of Health Services.
