The boring logs are included in Appendix C.
1.2 Groundwater Sample Collection
Upon reaching the capillary fringe a hydropunch type sampling tool was advanced into the
groundwater and a groundwater sample was collected from each borehole. The samples were
collected by use of a watera type sampling tube and gently transferred into 1-liter amber
glass bottles. The bottles were capped, inverted, tapped, and checked for headspace bubbles.
The bottles were then labeled and placed in a cooler at 4° Celsius for transport to the
laboratory following Chain of Custody protocol.
Clean surgical gloves are worn at all times in handling of the sample and sampling
' equipment. The bailer was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with clean water
between used.
1.3 Laboratory Analyses
' Soil
Two to four soil samples from each borehole were submitted to Sherwood Laboratories of
' Hilmar (State Certified Laboratory #1400). They were analyzed for the following:
• Total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel, kerosene, motor and dielectric oils
(TEPH-D, MO, DEO) by EPA method 3540/8015 (m). The detection limits for these
compounds are listed below.
etection imrts: I EPH-D, T ,
of mg Kg
' Water
One groundwater sample from each borehole was submitted to Sherwood Laboratories of
' Hilmar (State Certified Laboratory #1400). The soil then became lighter brown very plastic clay down
' to approximately 11 feet bgs. In several of the boreholes, sandy clay was encountered from
11 to 12 feet bgs.
Groundwater was encountered in the boreholes from between 6 and 8 feet bgs.
The boring logs that summarize information and observations made in the field are included
in Appendix C.
