' Geo 0 'a[Technics inc. •
Fonzia Page 4
SGWI Report
' Project No.: 774.2
April 1, 1999
3.0 ANALYTICAL RESULTS
' Summarized below are the results of the soil and groundwater analysis.
Soil
• Low levels of Motor Oil were detected in the soil samples from GP-4, GP-5 and GP-13,
all at 9 feet bgs.
• Moderate levels of Motor Oil were detected in the soil sample from GP-6 at 9 feet bgs.
' Groundwater
• Low levels of Motor Oil were detected in the groundwater samples collected from GP-7,
t GP-8, GP-10 and GP-11.
• Moderate levels of Motor Oil were detected in the groundwater samples from GP-4, GP-
5, GP-6, GP-9, GP-12 and GP-13.
' Table 1 in Appendix A is a full summary of the soil and groundwater analytical data
collected at the site to date. The lab data reports are attached in Appendix B.
' 4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
' Conclusions
Given the data collected in these two investigations and the cleanup work performed in 1995,
Geological Technics Inc. makes the following conclusions:
1. Soil Contamination
' • The data shows that only insignificant contamination is present in the soil.
• The soil cleanup work performed by Fortifiber in 1995 appears to have removed all
but a small volume of residual oil contamination in the soil.
' • In a few locations there has been spillage of small quantities of oil on the ground
surface, which has contaminated the upper few inches to few feet of soil. This
situation does not pose a threat to this property.
' • Motor oil is the predominant contaminant at this site. Minor amounts of diesel are
present under the Warehouse. No Solvents or Gasoline compounds were detected.
2. Groundwater Contamination
• The data shows that very low to trace concentrations of motor oil are present in the
' shallow groundwater over most of the area investigated at this site.
• Trace concentration of BTEX compounds have been found in the groundwater around
the Former Storage Area. No Solvents were detected.
Residual Effects
• It is recognized that both soil and groundwater contamination by motor oil is present
on this property. Groundwater over the central portion of the property is the area
' impacted. However, the concentrations are so low as not to be of significance.
• The remediation of 1995 removed contaminated soil to a depth of 12 feet in the
Former Storage Area. This is also the area with the highest concentration of motor oil
' in the groundwater(up to 15 mg/L).
