Geofogica(Technics Inc.
' 2741 River Road
Modesto,Ca(ifomia 95351
(209)538-6424/jax#538-5852
1
REPORT
' ADDITIONAL
SOIL & GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION
' onzia
APIN 233-460-07
5011'. Acacia St.
' Trac 7, California
Proj e ct No. 774.2
' June 10, 1999
' EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In 1995 the former Fortifiber facility was closed and several site closure cleanup activities
' were performed, including removal of stained soil by excavation. At that time groundwater
was at approximately 12 feet below ground surface (bgs), so excavation in the former Storage
Area extended to a depth of 12 feet. Currently groundwater is approximately 6 feet bgs. The
soil cleanup in 1995 removed most of the ontamination; however, subsequent investigation
' test data shows that some residual motor of and diesel contamination does still exist.
In December 1998, and March and May 1999, three soil and groundwater investigation
' events was performed. The test results indicate that the soil remediation of 1995 effectively
removed the source of oil in the soil at the Former Storage Area.
This report summarizes the work perfornied during these three investigations and draws
' conclusions as to the significance of the residual contamination still present on this property.
A total of 17 GeoProbe boreholes, 2 soil borings and 10 hand auger boreholes have been
' drilled. A total of 56 soil samples and 21 groundwater samples have been analyzed for
TEPH-D & MO, TPH-G, BTEX, and Solvents. Only 7 soil samples contained detectable
contamination, mostly motor oil compoun s. 13 groundwater samples contained detectable
' contamination, also mostly motor oil. A trace amount of BTEX compounds were detected in
3 groundwater samples. No Solvents were detected. The five metals were tested for in
several boreholes and the test results show that the metals in the contaminated area are within
' the range found in the background sample.
There appears to be two areas of concern which contain residual hydrocarbon contamination
in the soil and groundwater:
II
