ivl
V k„ Mn"
M.
.. Y.. ', ..
.✓ 4F kJt tY U ^i
8720033A-COT-6
Water Sam lin Procedure
- Water samples were collected from all the monitoring wells on September 14,
1987. Our field observations are summarized on Table 1. The wells were
_ sampled with a clear glass bailer, and the sample was visually inspected
for product layer and sheen. No product layer or sheen was observed on any
samples. The wells were then developed with the drill rig's air compressor
and allowed to recharge at least 24 hours after development. Prior to
sampling, water level measurements were obtained, the wells were then
pumped of approximately four submerged casing volumes. Groundwater samples
were collected with a Teflon bailer. The samples immediately placed in 40-
milliliter capacity VOA vials, sealed and stored in a refrigerated
container for transport to the analytical laboratory. The water samples
r were then delivered to WCC's environmental laboratory along with a Chain-
Of-Custody form, a copy of which is attached. Portions of the water
w_ samples were submitted under Chain of Custody control to California
Analytical Laboratory by the WCC laboratory for organic lead analyses.
-" 5.0 ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil samples from the borings were analyzed for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, total xylenes, chlorobenzene, ethylene dibromide, total
petroleum hydrocarbons and total organic lead. Groundwater samples were
analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, xylenes, total petroleum
hydrocarbons and total organic lead. Table 2 presents the analytical
results for soil samples; Table 3 contains the analytical results for
water.
As shown on Table 2, concentrations of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
total xylenes exceeding the threshold of detection (generally 0,2 mg/kg)
were identified by the analytical laboratory in most soil samples from
borings S-1 through S-4. Samples from boring S-4 generally showed no
detection or low levels of these parameters, while samples from boring S-3
