Compound Piping Pipe, pipefittings and other incidental related items as required for complete piping systems to and from the remediation system shall be as follows: • 1-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC shall be used for sampling ports • 2-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC shall be used as individual AS line risers and"bleed in"lines • 4-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC shall be used as individual SVE line risers • 2- or 4-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC shall be used throughout the remainder of the compound (equipment connections and main header line) • Appropriate reducers and applicable Schedule 40 PVC fittings shall be used to connect all piping • Tracer wire shall be placed in each newly installed trench for the purpose of locating nonmetallic piping networks installed in trenches Knockout Tank The liquid/vapor separator shall be equipped with a "high" float sensor installed in accordance with the recommended procedures supplied with the sensor and knockout tank. An auto pump-out system with a 0.5-HP, single-phase motor shall be used to pump the water into a 385-gallon poly tank. Electrical System The electrical system to the remediation equipment compound shall consist of the following: • Conduit and conduit fittings to be buried underground shall have an inside diameter not smaller than 3/4-inch-diameter • Exposed conduit runs shall be rigid, galvanized steel or code-approved PVC conduit • Empty conduit systems shall consist of conduits,junction boxes, plates, identification tags, fittings and support devices; empty conduit systems shall-be free from debris prior to final acceptance of the work System Compound • The remediation system compound shall be approximately 20 feet by 30 feet and enclosed by new chain-link fencing on the east and south sides, and the existing chain-link fence on the other sides. An 8-foot, center-locking .gate shall be centered in the new chain-link fencing installed on the southern end of the compound • Height of the new fence posts shall be approximately 7 feet and topped with three strands of barbed wire; fencing shall contain suitable security covers or slats • Four-inch-diameter iron pipe security bollards shall be placed on 4-foot centers along the southern sides of the compound and secured 3 feet deep in concrete cement.
