ameO
mass. A portable helium detector(Marks Product helium detector or equivalent)will be used
to detect the presence of helium in the observation wells throughout the constant rate test.
The meter will be factory calibrated and field checks will be performed with helium standards
to verify the instrument is operating properly. Vapor.samples will be collected in TedlarTM bags
r using a vacuum pump or syringe and the helium:detector will be attached directly to the bag
t for measurement. The monitoring frequency for helium is described in Table 2.
5.0 REPORTING
Following receipt of analytical data, AMEC will prepare a report to summarize the field
activities and present results from the Site investigation and AS pilot test. At a minimum, the
investigation and air sparging pilot test report will include:
• A written description of field activities;
• A scaled map of the Site showing locations of new wells, former UST systems,
excavation locations, existing monitoring wells, subsurface utilities, buildings, and
streets;
• A map showing the estimated extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacts in the
source area;
• Soil boring logs, MIP results, and well installation logs;
• Pilot scale analytical data presented in tabulated form;
• Plots of air injection pressure verses flow`rate from the AS pilot test;
• Plots showing the change in water elevation, DO concentration, ORP, helium
concentration, and PID readings in the observation wells;
• A discussion regarding the effectiveness of AS at the Site and an estimation of AS
design parameters (optimal injection pressure and flow rate, ROI, groundwater
mounding transition time); and
• Recommendations for future work at the Site.
6.0 SCHEDULE
AMEC will initiate the scope of work summarized above upon receipt of SJCEHD approval of
this work plan. Due to Caltrans funding, the work must be completed on an expedited
schedule:
• The pre-field activities will be completed by March 26, 2010.
AMEC Geomatrix, Inc.
P:\Project\14000s\14443_Caltrans\TO 10\11000_PLANSWS WP_March 2010\AS WP.doc 14
i
