C ACME TRUCK PARTS Section One L Acme Truck Parts Hazardous Materials Communication Plan is designed to reduce the potential for and the damage from the release of hazardous materials. The Hazardous Materials Communication Plan consists of five parts. They are: ® PREVENTING A HAZARDOUS MATERIAL RELEASE: The primary strategies of our Hazardous Materials Communication Plan in preventing hazardous material releases are: • Not to have any large amounts of toxic or waste materials on hand at any one time; • Purchase materials only as needed; • Keep inventories as low as possible; • Have waste picked up regularly by a licensed hauler; • Require work areas to be kept clean; • Maintain unobstructed walkways, and; • Keep materials stored safely, away from traffic areas. • EMPLOYEE TRAINING: The other primary focus in preventing the release of hazardous materials is employee training. This program includes: 1. Initial Safety Training includes: • An overview of the requirements contained in the Hazard Communication Regulation, including your rights under the Regulation; • Information of any operations in your work area where hazardous substances are present; • Location and availability of the written hazard communication program; • Physical and health effects of the hazardous substances; • Methods and observation techniques used to determine the presence of or release of hazardous substances in the work area; • How to lessen or prevent exposure to these hazardous substances through usage of control, work practices and personal protective equipment;
