C <br />ACME TRUCK PARTS <br />Section One <br />L <br />Acme Truck Parts Hazardous Materials Communication Plan is designed to reduce the potential for and the damage from <br />the release of hazardous materials. The Hazardous Materials Communication Plan consists of five parts. They are: <br />® PREVENTING A HAZARDOUS MATERIAL RELEASE: The primary strategies of our Hazardous <br />Materials Communication Plan in preventing hazardous material releases are: <br />• Not to have any large amounts of toxic or waste materials on hand at any one time; <br />• Purchase materials only as needed; <br />• Keep inventories as low as possible; <br />• Have waste picked up regularly by a licensed hauler; <br />• Require work areas to be kept clean; <br />• Maintain unobstructed walkways, and; <br />• Keep materials stored safely, away from traffic areas. <br />• EMPLOYEE TRAINING: The other primary focus in preventing the release of hazardous materials is employee <br />training. This program includes: <br />1. Initial Safety Training includes: <br />• An overview of the requirements contained in the Hazard Communication Regulation, <br />including your rights under the Regulation; <br />• Information of any operations in your work area where hazardous substances are present; <br />• Location and availability of the written hazard communication program; <br />• Physical and health effects of the hazardous substances; <br />• Methods and observation techniques used to determine the presence of or release of hazardous <br />substances in the work area; <br />• How to lessen or prevent exposure to these hazardous substances through usage of control, <br />work practices and personal protective equipment; <br />
