ACME TRUCK PARTS
G Secondary Container Hazard Warnings
• The supervisors in each department will ensure that all secondary containers are labeled with either an
extra copy of the original Manufacturer's label or with generic labels which have an area for the identity
and an area for the hazard warning.
D. Hazard Warning Requirements
• The Company may, at its option, use signs, placards, process sheets, batch tickets, operating procedures,
or other such written materials in lieu of affixing labels to individual stationary process containers, as
long as the alternative method identifies the containers to which it is applicable and conveys the
information required by the Hazard Communication and requirements. The written materials shall be
readily accessible to the Company employees in their work area throughout each work shift. On
construction sites over which it has control, the Company may allow the use of such written materials in
lieu of affixing labels to individual containers as long as the alternative method identifies and
accompanies the containers to which it is applicable and conveys the information required to be on a
label.
• The Company is not required to label portable containers into which hazardous substances are transferred
from labeled containers, and which are intended only for the "immediate use" of the employee who
performs the transfer on construction sites over which it has control. The Company will not require the
labeling of portable containers into which hazardous substances are transferred from labeled containers,
so long as either the labeled container stays on the job -site or the paragraph above has been complied
with.
• Neither the Company nor any employee shall remove or intentionally deface existing labels on incoming
containers of hazardous substances, unless the container is immediately marked with the required
information.
• The Company shall ensure that labels or other forms of warning are legible, in English, and prominently
displayed on the container, or readily available in the work area throughout each work shift. Where
appropriate, the Company may add the information to the material presented in the language of
employees who might better understand a foreign language, as long as the information is also presented in
English.
• The Company does not need to affix new labels if the existing labels already convey the required
information.
