Project No S8100-06-11A
June 29, 1995
Field Activities
' Retained a subcontractor, Western Strata Exploration, to drill and construct five
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-4 through MW-8) and one vapor extraction well
(VW-1) The soil borings were advanced to a maximum depth of 23 5 meters (77 feet)
bgs utilizing a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 254-mm (ten-inch) diameter hollow
stem augers Eighty-eight soil samples were submitted to Excelchem Environmental Labs
(Excelchem), a CaIifomia-certified analytical laboratory, for chemical analysis following
chain-of custody protocol
' Developed the wells using a surge block to densify the sand pack prior to placement of
the bentonite seal Subsequent pumping was performed to remove sediment utilizing a
submersible pump
' Measured the depth to groundwater and collected groundwater samples from the three
existing groundwater monitoring wells, MW-1 through MW-3, the five new monitoring
wells, MW-4 through MW-8, and the vapor extraction well, VW-1
' Submitted nine groundwater samples to Excelchem for chemical analyses
• Performed a survey of top of casing elevations to within 0 003 meter(0 01 foot) accuracy , f
for all new and existing groundwater monitoring wells within the project area V
4
