California Department of Transportation Revised September 23, 1994 <br /> Project No 102818A-01 <br /> CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Based upon the results of this study, the following conclusions and recommendations are <br /> offered• <br /> o Groundwater is present at the site at an approximate depth of 65 feet bgs. The <br /> groundwater flow direction is estimated to be toward the north at an approximate <br /> gradient of 0 0013 feet per foot <br /> • The results of the groundwater sampling and analysis program indicate concentrations <br /> of TPH as gasoline ranging from 588 to 1,500 µgle Elevated concentrations of BTEX <br /> were also detected in groundwater samples collected TPH as diesel was not detected <br /> in the concentrations above the detection limit in any of the groundwater samples <br /> collected <br /> G The benzene concentrations detected in groundwater samples (range from 238 to 13,700 <br /> µgle) exceed the Federal and California primary maximum contaminant levels for <br /> drinking water which are 5 µg/e and 1 µg/e, respectively Groundwater has been <br /> significantly impacted by the release of petroleum hydrocarbons and will require <br />' remediation to meet drinking water standards <br /> Water generated from sampling activities was transported under manifest for disposal <br /> at the Ramos Environmental Services facility located in West Sacramento, California <br /> C It is recommended that groundwater monitoring well head integrity and security be <br /> upgraded Specifically, the well cover gasket seal should be replaced, and a new <br /> expanding locking cap should be placed on each well <br />' o It is recommended that additional groundwater monitoring wells be installed at the site <br /> to further evaluate the lateral extent and seventy of groundwater contamination present. <br /> D It is recommended that a copy of this report be submitted to the following agency: <br /> San Joaquin County, Public Health Services <br />' Environmental Health Division <br /> 445 North San Joaquin Street <br /> Stockton, California 95201-2009 <br />' Attention Mr. Michael M Collins <br />' LIMITATIONS <br /> The environmental services outlined in this report have been conducted in a manner <br /> generally consistent with current regulatory guidelines and the standard of care exercised <br /> by environmental consultants performing similar work in this region.
