Banner Avenue SWRCB-CUF#: 018534
Lodi, CA. 95242
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has been notified
that county service area 31 (CSA-31) well #2 cannot be used because the pump
requires repair. As a result, CSA-31 well #1 will be the only well in use in the
area until CSA-31 well #2 has been repaired and returned to service.
CSA-31 well #1 is closest to the petroleum plume emanating from the Flag City
Shell service station. The increase in ground water pumping rates at this well
may change the flow direction and migration of the contaminant plume.
In order to evaluate the affects of increased pumping at CSA-31 well #1, EHD is
directing you to sample CSA-31 well #1 on a weekly basis and analyze at a
minimum for MtBE and TBA starting immediately. In addition, MW-4B and MW-
6C are also to be sampled weekly and analyzed at a minimum for MtBE and TBA
starting immediately.
This sampling requirement may be conducted at the same time the weekly
ground water batch sampling is conducted. The weekly sampling requirement for
these wells is to continue until otherwise directed by EHD.
Please forward the laboratory results to EHD as they are provided to you.
On May 8, 2006, EHD approved the work plan to install additional monitoring
wells. As of the date of this letter the work has not been completed. A Well
Permit Application Form and fees have been submitted for a portion of the work.
Permits and fees for the remaining work are to be submitted to EHD by
June 30, 2006 and the work is to be completed by July 21, 2006.
