My comments on these work
Bruns/Carlson Property, Byron,
The Contra Costa County
work plan proposes to sample monitoring wells (MWs) 1-4 to determine levels of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) levels with and without silica gel cleanup. The work plan also proposes
to resample GB-6B for TPHd testing with and without silica gel cleanup.
MY 14 requested TPHd only without silica gel cleanup. Howe Chevron plans to collect samples for ter
testing with silica gel cleanup to compare results from the two tests. The work p an adequately
MY concerns and is hereby approved.
addresses
Former Lyoth Loading Station, Tracy, San Joaquin County
My 14 March letter requested definition of the lateral extent of the TPHd plumes at MWs 6 an
installation of a MW downgradient of MWs d 7 via6 and 7. The work plan proposes to install a
boring/temporary well downgradient of MW 7, collect groundwater samples, and grout the boring after
sample collection. The work plan is inadequate because it does not propose a permanent MW
P
downgradient of MW7. In addition, it does not have provisions to define the lateral extent of the TPHd
Plume at MW 6. The work plan is conditionally approved provided that Chevron installs a MW
downgradient of MW-7 and defines the plume at MW-6.
Mansfield ProPertY, Tracy, San Joaquin County
My 14 March letter requested resampling of locations B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12 for TPHd analysis
without silica gel cleanup. The work plan proposes resampling B5, B7, and B9 only, but does not
Provide the rationale for elimination of B6 and B12. These locations need to be included in the sampling
Program to provide sufficient coverage of the area downgradient of TPH-affected soil. The work plan is
conditionally approved provided that B6 and B 12 are included in the sampling program.
California Environmental Protection Agency
ea Recycled Paper
CJ'i
