Mr. Robert D. Mihalovich 0 - 2 - 3 August 2000
Thompson Chevrolet, Patterson, Stanislaus County
Chevron proposes to install a boring north of MW 3, west of MW 6, east of MW 1, and southeast of
MW 1 in response to my 14 March request to define the lateral extent of TPHd pollution in these areas.
Chevron proposes to install the boring north of MW 3 at least 230 feet north of MW 3 and outside the
footprint of TPH-affected soil. This location seems too far. Another boring should be placed midway
between MW 3 and the proposed location. The boring east of MW 1 should be moved approximately
80 feet to the northwest, just outside the TPH-affected soil footprint. The proposed location is too far
from the TPH-affected soil footprint and would likely show nondetectable levels. The work plan is
approved provided that the above comments are incorporated into the work plan. Staff may request
Chevron to install permanent MWs to confirm results from this investigation.
Schedule
The work plans state that depending on the availability of contractors, the fieldwork would be scheduled
within two weeks of staff approval and execution of a right of entry agreements between Chevron and
property owners. Based on this schedule,by 18 August 2000,please submit a schedule for
implementation of the work plans. If you have any questions, you may call me at(916) 255-3081 or
e-mail at isorenp@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
PHILIPS. ISORENA
Associate Engineer
cc: Ms. Margaret Lagorio, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. James Simpson, Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources,Modesto
Ms. Penny Fottrell, Chevron Environmental Management Company, San Ramon
