Box 6012 <br /> San Ramon, California 94583-0712 <br /> Subject: Groundwater Monitoring Well Destruction Work Plan <br /> Former Lyoth Loading Station, <br /> 26501 South Banta Road <br /> Lyoth, San Joaquin County, California <br /> Dear Mr. Mansholt: <br /> At the request of Chevron Environmental Management Company (CEMC), Science <br /> Applications International Corporation (SAIC) prepared this work plan to properly <br /> destroy site groundwater monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, and <br /> MW-7 at the former Lyoth Loading Station site (the site; see Figure 1 and Figure 2). <br /> SAIC submitted a No Further Action Required (NFAR) request to the Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board (RWQCB) in April 20081. The RWQCB requested further <br /> evaluation, and SAIC submitted a supplemental risk evaluation for the site in January <br /> 20092. The RWQCB concurred with the conclusions of the NFAR request, and noted <br /> that the site is a candidate for closure (see Attachment A). SAIC is submitting this work <br /> plan in anticipation of approval from the RWQCB for proper destruction of the <br /> monitoring wells prior to issuing the NFAR for the site. <br /> Monitoring wells at the site range in depth from 23.15 feet to 31.66 feet below ground <br /> surface, and are constructed of 2 inch-diameter polyvinyl chloride casing, installed in <br /> 8.25-inch (assumed) soil borings. Table 1 presents a summary of well construction <br /> details, and the boring log for MW-7 is included in Attachment B. Table 1 also specifies <br /> 1. SAIC,2008.
