l MI CX-f-1 EAIYEA
Mr. Verrill M. Norwood
13 January 1997
Page 4
One soil sample collected from above the top of the uppermost saturated zone will be selected for
analysis from each of the four groundwater monitoring well borings. This depth is expected to be
10 feet below the ground surface, but the actual depth may vary because of the recent flooding. A
40-m1 VOA travel blank containing distilled water will accompany the soil samples and will be
analyzed for quality control purposes.
GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION REPORT
Following completion of the laboratory analyses, a report will be submitted presenting conclusions
regarding the extent of VOCs present in groundwater at the Tray Facility and the local groundwater
gradient and flow direction. The report will also present a site map indicating well locations and
the calculated groundwater gradient direction, tabulated summaries of soil and groundwater data,
groundwater level measurements, well completion and soil boring logs, descriptions of sampling
procedures, and copies of laboratory analysis reports.
SCHEDULE
Field work will commence within five weeks of receiving written approval of the work plan from
the Regional Board. We have assumed that this will allow sufficient time to obtain access
agreements for drilling the offsite wells. Drilling and sampling activities will be completed within
two and one-half weeks of commencing the field work. Laboratory analytical results will be
completed on a two-week turnaround and the final report will be submitted to the Regional Board
within four weeks of receiving the results from the laboratory.
If you have any questions regarding our report, please do not hesitate to contact us at (916) 485-
7222.
Sincerely yours,
HELMICK& LERNER INC.
