Well Decommissioning and Replacement - 3 - 22 June 2022
Well Installation Work Plan
Olin Chlor Alkali Facility
Tracy, San Joaquin County, California
Requested Action: Please confirm the length of the well screen.
COMMENT 5
Issue: The Work Plan neglects a discussion on the investigative derived waste (IDW).
Requested Action: Central Valley Water Board staff requests the inclusion of
procedures and sampling strategies for IDW handling and disposal in a revised Work
Plan.
COMMENT 6
Requested Action: Central Valley Water Board staff recommends that the boring for
MW-17 be manually cleared to a minimum depth of 5 feet below ground surface using a
hand auger to ensure the safety of the drilling staff.
COMMENT 7
Requested Action: Central Valley Water Board staff recommends surveying the new
well location by a Professional Land Surveyor. Applicable survey data should be
documented in the report following well decommissioning and installation activities.
Survey data will also be critical to accurately measure depth to groundwater and
calculate groundwater gradients.
CONCLUSION
Central Valley Water Board staff require a response to the above comments and
submission of a revised Work Plan that incorporates edits in response to these
comments. If you have any questions or comments regarding this letter, please contact
Amber Ginorio at (916) 464-4670 or by email at Amber.Ginorio(a_waterboards.ca.gov.
AMBER L.
