Each soil boring will be advanced to a
depth approximately three feet below the encountered groundwater surface.
Soil samples, for the purpose of describing soil penetrated, will be periodically
collected. A single soil sample from each boring will be collected from unsaturated soil
immediately above the groundwater surface encountered at the time of drilling. This soil
sample will be collected within brass tubes using a soil coring device. The ends of each
filled brass tube will be sealed using Teflon sheeting secured by plastic cap and tape.
A groundwater sample will be collected from each soil boring. All development and
groundwater sampling will be collected using baiting methodologies. In accordance with the
All Pure Chemical Company work plan, all groundwater samples will be collected from
uncased boring holes. Attempts will be made to develop the uncased boreholes to minimize
sampled water turbidity. Prior to sampling, uncased boreholes will be purged. However, it
must be recognized that the uncased nature of the boreholes may result in the collection of
turbid water sample. Excessive water turbidity may adversely affect the accuracy of
subsequent laboratory analyses. All groundwater samples will be handled in accordance with
United State Environmental Protection Agency accepted protocol.
TASK 3.0 - ABANDON SOIL BORINGS
In order to comply with County requirements, we anticipate that all soil borings
constructed will have to be abandoned by backfilling with cement grout within 24 hours of
their construction. We also anticipate that a representative of the County will request to be
present to witness the soil boring abandonment activities. We have assumed that no
additional costs will be incurred for the County's inspection of soil boring abandonment
activities.
Each soil boring will be abandoned by backfilling soil borings with a cement ba-
grout mixture. Grout will be placed using tremie line methods and gravity displaceme4
methods.
TASK 4.0 M LABORATORY ANALYSES
In accordance with instruction received from All Pure Chemical Company, each of the
13 soul and 13 groundwater samples will be submitted to a laboratory and analyzed by the
following methods.
Method 8015M for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
Method 5521 for Waste Oil and Heavy Hydrocarbons
Aarh .oz 2
