WJNGEI6 p6pp6091TM'IS
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil to a depth of 31 ft but were not detected in
groundwater.
In December 1991 a quarterly groundwater sampling program was begun at the facility. At the
beginning of the quarterly groundwater sampling program only well MW-1 contained enough
water to sample. Therefore, another well (MW-4) was installed Groundwater samples were
collected through January 1993 Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in groundwater
during the sampling program.
In July 1994 an additional soil and groundwater investigation was conducted. Soil samples were
collected from three borings, grab groundwater samples were collected from two of the borings,
' and wells MW-2 and MW-3 were abandoned. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil to
a depth of 50 feet below ground surface (bgs). Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in
groundwater; however, a groundwater sample was not collected from the boring (SB-2) with the
highest concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil.
In October 1996 an investigation was conducted to determine groundwater quality in the vicinity
of boring SB-2 Monitor well MW-5 was installed and soil samples were collected from the
well borehole Soil contamination was detected to a depth of 30 feet bgs. Two rounds of
groundwater samples were collected in November and December 1996 Petroleum hydrocarbons
were not detected in groundwater.
3.0 EXISTING FEATURES
3.1 AREA PRODUCTION WELLS
' Only one production well was found within 2,000 feet of the site (Figure 1). The well is located
approximately 1,560 feet south-southwest of the site The well, designated 1-R, is owned and
operated by the City of Lodi and supplies drinking water The well is screened from 150 feet
to 395 feet bgs The United States Geological Survey 7 5 minute Lodi North quadrangle
topographic map shows four additional wells within 2,000 feet However, during a site
reconnaissance the wells were not found The topographic map shows the wells located in
orchards which have been removed and commercially developed since the publication of the
map
•
' L"01ECTSZAN10Q%CL0SUMMVC_L0DCLO 2 1 May 1997
