MANIC{RS ES"JEFSCOIlSI._1MT$ <br /> 3.0 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING <br /> 3.1 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING METHODOLOGY <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from wells MW-1, MW-4 and MW-5 on 8 November 1996 <br /> and from well MW-5 on 9 December 1996 Since contaminants were not detected the <br /> groundwater samples collected from MW-1 and MW-4, these wells were not resampled during <br /> the 9 December sampling event Groundwater sampling worksheets are presented in Appendix <br /> C <br /> Prior to sampling, water level measurements were taken from all wells The standing water <br /> volumes within the wells scheduled for sampling were then calculated A bailer was used to <br /> remove a minimum of three well casing volumes from monitor wells MW-4 and MW-5 <br /> Approximately one well volume was removed from MW-1 because the well went dry during <br /> purging <br /> At the beginning and during the purge process, the temperature, pH and electrical conductivity <br /> of the purge water were measured This information was recorded on sampling data sheets <br /> Samples were collected with a Teflon bailer Samples were sealed in plastic bags and placed <br /> with ice in an insulated chest for delivery to the analytical laboratory <br /> The bailers used to purge and sample the wells were thoroughly cleaned pnor to use by washing <br /> with water and Alconox followed by a deionized water nnse <br /> 3.2 ANALYTICAL METHODS <br /> Allg roundwater samples were analyzed by EPA Method 8020 for BTEX and by EPA Method <br /> 8015M for TPH-G The analyses were performed by American Environmental Network in <br /> Pleasant Hill <br /> 3.3 GROUNDWATER PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND POTENTIOMETRIC <br /> SURFACE ELEVATIONS <br /> Table 3-1 presents a summary of groundwater physical characteristics and depth to water <br /> measurements collected on 8 November and 9 December 1996 Groundwater elevations <br /> decreased in MW-1 and MW-5 by 0 15 ft and 0 10 ft, respectively, between 8 November and <br /> 9 December The groundwater elevation increased by 0 90 in MW-4 over the same period <br /> L TR0IECr"ANJ0QMCL0D1 REP 8 J...Y 1997 <br />
