The augers were removed in 15-foot sections and the inner annulus of the casing was alternately
filled to the surface with cement grout to prevent caving of the surrounding formation
Additional cement/bentonite grout was added to the well as appropriate as the casing was
' removed The well was completed in a traffic-rated utility box and fitted with a locking
expandable cap.
TABLE A-1
Well Construction Details
MW-4
Total Depth 71 feet 407, 71
' Screen Interval 50-70 feet Z'r"'! a
' Top of Sand 47 5 feet ,,z; r
Bentonite Seal Interval 45.5-47.5 feat
Casing Type PVC Schedule 40
Diameter of Casing 4 inch
Sand Pack #1C Lonestar Sand
Grout 3-5% bentonite and Portland I-II cement
End Caps Flush-threaded screw-on bottom and expandable locking top
Completion Flush Christy Box f 3
!i. Initially, a pre-cleaned 3-inch-diameter bailer was used to
remove fines which had accumulated in the well during construction After a majority of the
' fines were removed with the bailer, a 4-inch-diameter surge block was inserted into the well and
used to surge the well screen interval approximately 20 times After the surge block was
removed, the 3-inch bailer was used again to remove the fines that had entered the well during
surging. The well was developed until fines were unnoticeable and the water was clear.
Conductivity, pH, and temperature measurements were monitored and pumping continued until
these parameters had stabilized. Parameters were considered stable when successive
measurements were within 10 percent of each other. All development water was stored in 55-
gallon drums pending results of the groundwater analyses.
