' • J'1Claytori <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Mr. Mark Frater of R.E. Service Company retained Clayton Group Services, Inc. <br /> t (Clayton)to conduct a subsurface investigation at the R.E. Service facility at 500 South <br /> Beckman Road, Lodi, San Joaquin County, California(the Site). The general location of <br /> the project Site is shown on Figure 1. <br /> 1.1 SITE HISTORY <br /> The subject property is located in an industrial portion of Lodi, California at an address <br /> currently known as 500 South Beckman Road. The Assessors Parcel Number is 049-250- <br /> 81 and according to the tax records the parcel is 5.29 acres in area. One large single story <br /> manufacturing building that totals approximately 99,000 square feet is located on the <br /> subject property. The subject property was previously known as 400 South Beckman <br /> Road and was 7.22 acres in area prior to a parcel split. <br /> The subject property was reportedly used as agricultural land for vineyards or was vacant <br /> until 1987 when Minton Lumber Company constructed the current manufacturing <br /> building. Between 1991 and 1993, Central California Horseman Complex and Central <br /> Valley Auto Auction used the subject property as a horse arena and an auto auction yard, <br /> respectively. <br /> R.E. Service Company purchased the property in 1994 and remodeled the building to <br /> accommodate its manufacturing operations. The renovations included installation of a <br /> ' boiler system and cooling tower, construction of a press pit, and installation of a steam <br /> powered laminating press system. R.E. Service Company currently owns and occupies <br /> the property to manufacture phenolic wood computer boards, laminates, and copper foils <br /> used by the computer industry. Based on information in Phase I Environmental Site <br /> Assessment (ESA)reports for the subject property, the four areas identified below are <br /> potential environmental concerns: <br /> ' • Press pit area <br /> • Outside drum storage area <br /> • Plate washing area <br /> • Sump/catch basin areas <br /> 1.2 PURPOSE <br /> Based on the information available to date, Clayton developed a scope of work to <br /> perform a site investigation at the above-referenced areas to evaluate potential impacts to <br /> the subsurface from past site operations. <br /> ' 1.3 LIMITATIONS <br /> The information and opinions expressed in this report are given in response to a limited <br /> assignment by R.E.
