We believe that upon your review, the
report will answer many of the concerns raised in your January 14, 1997 letter. Basically, we
think that the extent of impacts have been defined. Although there is free product on the
groundwater, there are low levels of volatile and semi-volatile compounds and no aromatic
compounds detected. We also do not believe any additional monitoring wells are warranted.
Fugro/ENSR has been requested to develop a workplan for the next round of sampling. This will
be forwarded to you for your review prior to sampling for three more quarters.
One of the recommendations in the Dames and Moore report is to perform a risk evaluation
following the Tier 1 Risk-Based Corrective Action (RSCA) approach. We believe this would
forward the closure of the site, especially with all the previous work done. We would like to
discuss this approach with you after you have reviewed the summary report.
I apologize for the delay in sending out this report and the sampling workplan.
Should you have any questions, please contact me at telephone number(805) 328-2349.
Sincerely,
K.
