Previously, in a 3 June 2004
memorandum, Regional Board staff approved a workplan prepared for ChevronTexaco by Geomatrix
Consultants, Inc. (Geomatrix). Originally, four soil borings were proposed north-northwest of the site to
evaluate and/or delineate the extent of impacted soil and groundwater downgradient of the site.
The two proposed west boring locations were on private property but the property owner has denied
access. Consequently, alternate drilling locations were needed to investigate the downgradient evaluation
in the same general vicinity.
Geomatrix staff recently completed a field reconnaissance in the residential neighborhood to locate
possible sites where access might be feasible. As a result, one location, approximately 125 feet east-
northeast of the two original drilling locations was identified and described on the 21 September 2004
e-mail field map.
We concur with the proposed alternate location for the downgradient soil boring. Please notify Regional
Board staff at least 48 hours prior to start of the field activities.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
/
)a.
SHELT N R.
